I grew several Brugmansias from seeds I purchased from Arghya Gardens in St. Petersburg, FL. They were started as seeds in August of 2013. So these seedlings are over a year old now.

My dear cat knocked them over when they were very small seedlings which totally messed up the tags, so I don't know for sure which is which. The hybrid possibilities are: Rubirosa x Goldflame, Rubirosa x Lizzy, New Orleans Lady x Angels Goldface, and New Orleans Lady x Double Dark Rosetta. Any of these plants could be any of these crosses. I've no idea!

They are all unique and some are rather odd. I don't know enough about the genetics of the parents to know why some look the way they do, but it sure is interesting what you can get from seeds!

Brug 1: (Odd looking double blooms)

Brug 2: (Large leaf, small double blooms)

Brug 3: (Oddest one of all, reddish rough bark, very tall, small leaves and small double cream color blooms)

Closer look at bark. This tree is very sturdy and solid. I've never seen a brug quite like it:

Brug 4: (Large leaves, decent-sized white single blooms)

Brug 5: (This brug grows like a dwarf plant. Very short. Odd leaves, nice-sized pink blooms, baby powder scent. It is also the most drought tolerant brug I've ever had. Doesn't like too much water.) I just realized looking at the photo that one of my pipevines is wrapping around it. Must remove those vines from this brug tomorrow!

Brug 6: (Quite tall, upward branching brug with creamy double small blooms.)

Brug 7: (Short, wide branching brug with small white single blooms. I like the form of this one! Just wished the blooms were bigger!)

Brug 8: (Ridiculously tall with large leaves, and double pink blooms. All these brugs are growing in 18 gallon plastic storage tubs.)

Brug 9 Last one: (I believe this one is the sibling to #8. Another tall brug with large leaves and triple pink blooms. I like this one a lot!)

These seem to have quite a variety of characteristics. Most are very different from each other. It's been a fun adventure growing brug hybrids from seeds!
What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters, compared to what lies within us.
