Kabby said:@farawayfarmer John you knew Bill Munson and toured Wimberlyway? He did so much for hybridizing tets and I can't see a chalky eye without thinking of his influence. I have greatly reduced my collection but still grow many. @bluegrassmom likes them too!
The old Munson residence was close to where the VA Hospital was built across the street from Shands Hospital. The VA took it when the hospital was built. Bill was an Architect for the State of Florida, and commuted between Tallahassee and Gainesville. I think he spent the week in Tallahassee, and came home most weekends. It was a long time ago, so I might not have that quite right. If I remember correctly, he designed the new house, which is roughly north of the Oaks Mall. The main house was occupied by his sister and her family, and I think Ida Munson (his mother) lived there, as well. Bill's bachelor quarters were in a separate building separated by a sort of breezeway from the main house.
I remember more than one Region 12 meeting at which he discussed his adventures with colchicine.
