I have read all that. I also came across a description of the leaves that states (s.i.c.) they are usually densely pubescent but sometimes almost glabrous. It exhibits a great deal of variation in pubescence and leaf form, as a result of which numerous varieties have been named. (Standley & Steyermark, 1949; pp. 298-299). This may explain why there are no varieties listed in the db. Perhaps the silver-grey (pubescent) plants fall within the natural variation within the species C. verticillata.
