The larger plastic shaker bottles are also wonderful to shake out fertilizer. I keep one in my garden bag so I am always ready when I see a need. When planting tiny seeds, I place them in a spice shaker bottle and add some white sugar or very fine sand, mix and I am ready to sift the seed. This way your tiny (poppy etc.)seeds will not all get planted in one spot.
