Oh that really is a beautiful yellow! Another one to try and track down here!
My only true yellow - 'Alchemist', which was new last autumn, hasn't done well this winter. I had 3 rosettes, 2 are dead and the third only has the growing tip still alive. I think maybe I damaged the roots when I transplanted it. That's on my re-order list for the Spring when Frenwood reopen their order books.
I've decided not to order anywhere other than Fernwood from now on. I get less in terms of numbers of rosettes but at least I'm sure of correct names and that they are hardy plants then. Many that I got from local garden centres early this summer have done really badly this winter. It hasn't been good semp weather conditions, but all of the last Fernwood batch (with the exception of 'Alchemist') look very good, even though I was very late in the season to plant them. I wonder if many of the others I bought were grown on under glass? Or grown quickly/forced in some other way? It seems too much of a coincidence that they all look very sorry for themselves compared to the very happy Fernwood batch.
