Hang in there Jim. This too shall pass. Other than the financial loss, try to look on it as a chance to experiment with new plants and new landscaping ideas. When you redo it, be sure to put in a mix of cold hardy plants, native plants and then some tropicals and annuals. Think of the tropicals as annuals and you won't be so disappointed if you lose them. Between the cold hardy evergreens and native plants, you will at least still have some green year round. Podocarpus make great cold hardy hedges and provide some protection for more tender plants in front of them.
