I'll take a stab at this question. However we are in a world apart in zones. From what I can remember Judes thorns where average for a rose. The form for me was fountain like and quite wide. Thats a good size pot but would think that JTO would maybe take up a lot of deck space. There are some upright growing Austin Roses.

Where I live I never had cane left after winter. So was unable to build structure or have canes thicken. They ended up after most winters with new weaker stems. Molineux, James Galway and Gertrude Jekyll come to mind as upright here. Munstead Wood and Mary Rose are two I can think of that are smaller in size.

Go for what you like after all a rose in a pot can always be planted later. I believe fro what I read that we have all planted roses we love and ordered ones we later end up removing. There are many folks on here that would know a lot more than I on roses in pots.
