Debra, I wonder if perhaps you had bulb(s)/tuber(s) of some sort (already in that area where you sowed the seeds) that maybe you forgot about?

I looked through all five pages of Alstromeria in the ATP database but couldn't find anything that resembled your plant. I'm not very good at identifying plants by comparing photos; what looks right to my eyes is sometimes waaay off, but I still like the challenge. Green Grin!

While googling I did find this hybrid Lily that seems to have the growth habit and foliage that looks very similar to your photo. The very first one shown here, Lilium 'Algarve' (Hybrid of L. longifolium and an Asiatic Lily) http://www.iowaregionallilysoc...


I'm going to be out of town tomorrow but if I remember before I leave here I will go out and take a picture of my L. longifolium that are coming up. These are older photos from January 2013
