Well, you picked a good one for your first time. Better Boy is a hybrid mid-season tomato that has some disease resistance built in. It is an indeterminate plant that will typically produce fairly large crops of fruit up to 1 pound. I grew a Better Boy the first year I was in Arizona and it started off the season like gangbusters. Then it got hot...and I didn't know at the time what was wrong with the plant. Still growing but no more tomatoes. So I pulled it and went on to other things.

I can't believe how naive I was about growing vegetables in a desert climate. I soon realized that I was spoiled growing vegetables in Northern California. I thought I was a pretty good vegetable gardener born from years of experience. Now I realize that I was blessed with incredible soil, excellent water and outstanding weather. Nobody that put any effort at all into to it could miss with those resources.

Anyway Susie, keep us posted on your progress and if you need any help there are several of us here that may be able to help you out.
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting ‘...Holy Crap ...What a ride!'
