oh, thanks! the door was my ploy to show off ;)).. it's 48" at the tallest. but i have another pot with mixed S. trifasciata and S. trifasciata 'Laurentii' that has not been repotted in oh... may be 10 years? the longest plain ones are 61". it's in a 12"x12" pot.
it is my understanding that the longer you keep them growing without repot - the longer they might get. uppotting to a larger pot size is OK though. the one in the 1st pic was in super small 6.5" pot for around 10 years too.
also when you do not divide them, every new shoot gets bigger an bigger - they grow in a cluster connected by stolons.
once the shoot blooms, it stops growing (i have not measured myself though, may be it's NOT true?). and it takes 2-3 years for it to bloom from emergence.
they get partial sun in east or west window, which is pretty good. they'll take full sun indoors though.
if you want them to really grow they need good light and warm temps (over 75F, preferably to 85F) year-round.
the 1st plant is the product of mixed-up mama ;). here's a pic of it from DB
