Well I don't like to spray pesticides unless I have a real problem. I do have some hibiscus that I sprayed last year because the japanese beetles were eating it so badly, and my roses also. But the hollyhocks I had around the front porch just looked so ratty I don't think I would plant them again. I tried some black tulips but the moles? ate them promptly after planting, I guess they are tasty. Smiling

I wouldn't care if it bloomed with the daylilies or not. I guess even black foliage might be nice. I have a black colored elderberry, but I think it says shade on the tag if I remember right.
