Here's a tip! I had some canna seeds I'd saved and those things are round, smooth and very, very hard. I wanted to nick them prior to soaking them, but nothing was working. Then I remembered I have a grinder! A firm grip with the pliers and I had a very small spot abraded through that hard coating. Easy and fast. Maybe I'll be really lucky and nothing will sprout anyway. It's not like I need any more juvenile plants to see after.
