Sad to report that all of the seeds I planted rotted - so round 2 has begun following packet instructions to the letter. The packet said soak for 4 days and change water daily. It got me to thinking that the seed coats must contain a germination inhibitor - thus the long soak and water changes. I'll hold back 2 when ready to plant and keep soaking just to see if, like sweet peas, they'll germinate in the water. I'll probably use vermiculite to plant and drench a couple of cells daily to further dilute any germination inhibitors.
Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.
