Mary - To look at your growing season photos, I'd have never guessed you lived in Alaska! What you have done is amazing and inspiring! I am a fan of raised beds as well. I have the opposite issue as my yard is sandy and often dry & hot with a long growing season (using the right plants of course!). Always fun to figure out what grows well in a particular area.
