I'm not really clear on what is going on here, despite having re-read the original post several times...
I do know that we need to run a DE-humidifier in the winter, because we have so much moisture coming from our crawl space. If there is so much moisture that it's wrecking the ceiling and molding the blankets, your house does NOT need a humidifier!! Sorry, but living in an indoor rain forest is just not reasonable.
