Nothing to it....really, but I was scared to at first...especially when broke it apart, but all I did was stick the little pieces in some rootone and just stuck them in the dirt! Even when a piece falls off, I will do that now...and stick a piece in what ever plant is close by and it's growing everywhere! Lol. I live in SC, and the leaves die back in the winter, but they start coming back in the spring like clockwork. I just keep them in the garage. If you are to afraid to try the whole thing, just break off a few "feet", and start some new pots. :-). But it really is that easy!
