Russian comfrey also has very pretty blue flowers! I have never used it for mulch, but I will definitely do so this year when it's time to cut it back! It takes up about half of a raised perennial bed. No weeds in the comfrey half but lots in the other half and that will be the obvious place to mulch with some of the cut leaves!
