Mine did pretty well growing in a large clay pot after being dumped out of the black plastic one it came in the year prior. It bloomed, even after some rough handling to get it into three separate plants. It grew in dappled shade, but it got some direct high west sun in the early part of the growing season when it bloomed. Eventually some cannas grew tall and blocked the sun, but bloom was finished. So far this year it's sitting in full sun, but the leaves keep fading to a lighter green. I think for this part of Texas, it's probably getting too much sun. Ultimately I'll move it where it gets a lot of morning sun and dappled shade the rest of the day. As far as water, that was erratic. I could never tell if it was just running through the pot or actually getting the soil damp. The leaf structure over the edge of the pots acted like down spouts that channeled water to the outside of the pot. Might as well have had gargoyles on them Smiling . And I was a bit erratic about trying to give it water because I was - and am - unsure about how much and how often it likes to receive it. Sometimes it acted like it was getting too much and other times it seemed to not be getting enough. Both may have been true.
