I loved this idea for using old dinner knives as plant markers but the local GW charged 60ยข each and I needed several dozen. I found a package of 36 knives with plain flat handles at Sam's Club for $13.86. .47mm label maker tape fits the handles perfectly.

So far the markers are serving a dual purpose, reminding me where I planted what seeds and keeping my 90 pound dog from rolling in the seedbeds. And the silver color blends into the background better than the plastic knives I used last year. Plus those plastic knives got brittle in the sun and broke into shards.
