Yeah, I fed a few of mine here in zone 6/7 and the people in my rose group told me I'm crazy to be feeding so early. I'm waiting a week to feed the rest because I remember how fickle and mean the spring can be. We had lovely 80's last week, and now we're in 40s at night. They're still getting snow in zone 4.
I love feeding with alfalfa pellets because it smells so good. Fish emulsion...yuck, but I use it. Alfalfa you can spread by hand and not worry about if it's going to give you cancer. My kind of fertilizer!
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.
