I've got many of the same plants here, but would never dare to try a banana again.. I had the same one in Los Altos, and it was marginal there.. I'm not sure that we get much colder here, but it seems to affect tender plants worse. I was figuring it might have to do with both moisture in the air (more), and less hours of sun being in a canyon.. but I love Sonoma County, and it looks like you found a beautiful spot that has only been enhanced by your skills in the garden.
The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us.
