Maybe where Deb is, they'll be perennial, but not where you are Suzy. My daughter lives in Salt Lake City and the big double ranunculus rarely if ever live through the winter for her, even with a good thick mulch. She's in zone 6.

If you have a picture of the double perennial one you're looking for that will help.
