I'm pretty sure it was for anyone. I think it was mostly the club members who were presenting, though. In the newspaper announcement it said people could bring their Daylilies between 8:30 and 9:30 with the show starting at 10:00 am. It was good publicity for the club. I got there a little after it started and as I was taking pictures I heard one of the club members say how they had gained two new members in the first fifteen minutes! He seemed really excited about that. I know I had a lady come up to me and tell me that they met there at the church once a month and how growers would come to the meeting and you could buy all the new hybrids and cultivars much cheaper. I just nodded to be polite but if I had any interest in Daylilies, this sounds like an active club to belong to. They also had a talk at 11:00 am on how to grow and care for Daylilies. Most of the people there went into the room where the talk was being held but I just kept on snapping pictures.
I'm glad everyone had as much fun looking at these beautiful flowers as I did! And hopefully, you saw a new one or maybe one you just have to have now. Although, I hope I didn't tempt you too much! Also, I've put this on the new calender of events section, but I'll link to it here:
http://garden.org/apps/events/... We have a Daylily Mecca each year along the I-4 corridor where you can go visit local growers and shop your hearts out! It's an annual thing so if you can't make it this year, maybe start planning for next year. The link above also includes a link to the Daylily Mecca website so you can look at all the growers involved and where they are. They also hold some special events like breakfasts and a BBQ dinner. Sounds like a perfect vacation for a Daylily enthusiast!
