Blood Meal also tends to keep rabbits away from lilies, which they love. It's just difficult to keep up with putting the blood meal on the lilies (at least weekly) to keep all the new growth covered with it.
Like Jo Ann, we've used so many repellant sprays and the deer do get used to them.
