It's really hard to say, I've seen them get really yellow like that and still be alive, that's why I suggest pulling it out, it needs it anyway and it'll be the first step to determining if your plants just not happy but still fully alive, or if it's got rot going...

Is it soft at the base or anywhere down low in that yellow area?
