Planting Hosta 'Francee' in the cast iron pot 3 years ago has proved to be a success. Hostas don't find my part of Texas very agreeable, but I like them so I thought I'd just grow it as annual. I started with 3 plants and was surprised to see all three return after overwintering in the pot. One quickly died that second summer, but two have made it and one is really a big plant now. The pot itself is a bit difficult because the drain holes are too small. Seems to be the right combo of plant and container. I'm happy. I wish it was one of the bluegreen Hostas that I really love, but I'll accept this as long as it's content to grow
. Maybe the Wal-Mart fern I put in there this year will surprise me too!
