When I pot up my adeniums into wider containers I add fresh mix at the bottom and sides, then set the pot in a large bowl that has an inch of liquid rooting/transplanting hormone. The mix wicks up the liquid while I work on another potting up.
My mix is so light and airy that there is a lot of waste when drenching the plants. So what I do now, come feeding time, is pour a little liquid fertilizer on top of soil and allow rainwater to wash fertilizer through the rest of the pot. The feeder roots near the top of soil is what picks up the nutrients anyway, so a little will go a long way.
