When I first grew the Evening Primrose I was unable to identify the first year flat rosette. I sent a message to Green Deane of "Eat the Weeds" and he was kind enough to send me a photo to help me identify which rosettes in my yard were weeds needing to be pulled and which were the Oenothera. After that I took photos like this one to help me remember:

It is amazing to me how these flowered open in the blink of an eye just at sunset. I remembered to have my camera with me just as the sun went down below the trees and got this shot:
