I am so excited! I have never seen a peony like this... Is it something that shows up frequently and it is just me... that I have never seen it? This flower has not opened fully yet; it is a cool, overcast morning, 7 a.m. I don't know yet what the inner side of the petals will look like. The plant is one of my "self-seeded" ones that I didn't get dug up, divided, and lined out separately last fall. Those plants (I refer to them as my "row of nine") all came up, all have buds, and 2 of them have bloomed already. Any comments on the above picture will be much appreciated! Am I just over-reacting? I am calling it 'white flare' for now, until I either forget about it or think of a better name.
