Alright, this is now fixed and here's how to do it:
Go to the forum you want to watch.
Click on the menu icon at the top (it's the icon with 3 horizontal lines)
Under forums you'll see the option to "watch this forum" or if you're already watching it, it'll say "Unwatch this forum". Click that and you're in business.
