I feel like a real dunce! I didn't know how "un-observant" I am, particularly about my singles. I was just out looking at the backs of petals, and I discovered that MOST of the singles have white flares on the backs! And none of the doubles. It might be that singles open up all the way so fast and I just have never looked at them as early as I did the one I pictured in my first post. While it is very pretty, obviously I do not have a "rare new peony"! I notice my post has 30 views and 2 replies, so I guess a whole lot of peony growers are thinking "what an idiot".
