Celebrating Gardening: 2015
My gardens are full of lilies but I do have some other plants and flowers that I have a big interest in as well..........although the lilies are top here....
but I love the hydrangea's. I have several of them around the yard here and they are repeat bloomers.......most of them are the endless summer variety.

Other then that have a real interest in my tulip tree. it is about to bloom here with they say about a 1000 plus flowers over the next week or so. The plan was for the ministry of natural resources here to come and take the queen bees from the tree in the springtime when it bloomed and that is usually much earlier then this but with the spring late this year it is late too. Last year it might have gotten about 50 flowers or so but this year it is loaded with blooms. All the flowering bushes are doing great in my area. My honeysuckle did wonderful here this year. The peonies I love them too are not out yet but have a good amount of buds too. the Lilacs did great here too this year........and for some reason the Lilies are way behind. I had a lady from the horticultural society here and they are planning on coming to see the tulip tree..(yellow poplar is another name) which is in the magnolia family actually.....not a popular at all. there will be about 100 people here come a week Monday to see it. I have the tulip tree blooming in this county and the county is huge here. the tree is about 85 years old.
the bees will be good for the lilies and other flowers around here too. the flowers are yellow and green tulips with orange centers that are full of honey and pollen and then they produce a big seed pod. It is growing way out zone for this area too..... So the hope is that some of these small trees can be started. the tree is an Ontario species tree just not my area..........to grow normally.
They would love to me start some younger trees but not sure how to do that. they do not self seed until after a good winter freeze and so far no little trees have shown up under the mother tree...........so they suggest plant some of the seeds in a pot in the fall and leave it out and see if it will bloom over winter and then transplant them in the future. This tree took forever to bloom and they are hoping with the mother tree being able to survive here that the young ones can do the same..... I thought Lilies were complicated at times but this tree takes the cake........ someone said they just clone this tree but not sure what that means, maybe a tissue culture??

so the yard is full of interesting flowers and everything will bloom and be very nice. a lot of things bloom before the lilies start to bloom here. Kursha Maya is just coming out the ground now and it planted forever ago..........

so what other flower interests do you have??
