Celebrating Gardening: 2015
so the last few days my interest is turning into some plant reversion...... all my peonies have reverted back to species. they say it comes from a weak gene and also a very bad winter which we have had the last two years. Last year a couple of them reversed back but this year almost all of them are starting to bloom and all reversed so far by one.........
the one hydrangea is doing the same thing and going back to species
and then the red maple is going back to a Norway maple....
so things are strange in the garden

The tulip tree is my big interest these days and continues that way..........even more now

the tree is 85 years old and started to bloom today
the conservation society is coming to take a pic and do a media release to the newspapers and the radio.....and also to take some pics and post it to their website....
the tree will be designated a heritage tree and also a protected species tree as well of Ontario...... in my area.......
the tree is growing way out of it zone here........and has its own little mirco climate going on and they think that has helped it survive. 85 is the oldest we can find out for sure but might be older then that...
the seeds are not viable although it produces seeds until it is about 50 years old.........they may flower earlier in some places but the seed pods are aborted.....the viable seed pod stays on the tree........and then falls off naturally in the fall.....
there have been scientists and biologists and forest management and the list goes on and on and on taking an interest in this tree and talking way above my head at times..........but it is has been interesting at the same time.....

tomorrow back to my true big interest in the lilies but for the past week or so and the next few days all eyes are on the tulip tree
the few blooms that are open right now are 85Feet up the tree and the buds are forming lower so hope to see some buds in the near future....
had the tree inspected and it is in good health other then a few dead branches that will not be taken off until the tree is completely dormant in the winter.....

my lilies are growing like weeds due to the humidity and rain we needed but all will be late blooming here this year........
and some are just popping out of the ground
