I agree; if you receive some as a gift plant them whenever you can.

If you are buying/ordering bulbs, you can research the different Allium varieties which can grow to many different heights. There is a chart on this link; click it to enlarge the image of the chart. And remember with any plant 'your mileage may vary'...meaning that the height predicted on the chart may not be the same as the plant will achieve in your growing conditions.
