I have grown it. It is lovely! I did wintersow mine and had great success. But I'm a bit further north than you. I think my mom grows it.

I have a love hate relationship with Verbascum. Beautiful flowers. And they rebloom if cut back after first flush. But mine took up a good size footprint. I tried ripping them out. They have some serious thick deep roots. And they would come back. Then I would be happy they came back. Then they would frustrate me and I would take them out again.......
