Oh, I see what you mean, about the statues being a Memorial... it's really sad, when you think about it, the fire that destroyed that beautiful building... wouldn't it be Grand if it was still here for people to go to?? Our city had several really nice buildings that burnt down, a Long time ago; I saw photos of a huge beautiful Hotel that was destroyed...and several others, from fire. I think another was maybe a Courthouse; I have a book on the city's history, which is fascinating to read, esp. with all the photos. Of course, others were demolished from hurricanes, like the really bad one in 1919, when there was no forecasting of big storms, and then Celia, a few years before we moved here (in 1976). But there is always something built in their place, esp. if it is prime locations! I'm glad England left that area open to the public, with a park & memorials there. Rolling my eyes.
