Still working in my garden renovation project so there are pots of plants all over. Little by little each plant is finding a home. Look what I disturbed while moving some pots today; poor little thing was trying to sleep in my pot ghetto. Oh, I was wearing the gauntlet glove because I was pulling out brambles; not to protect myself from the harmless little snake.

Northern Scarlet Snake (Cemophora coccinea copei)

In this photo you can see the snake has a red upturned snout and a white underbelly which helps to identify it as a Scarlet Snake and not a Milk Snake or Scarlet King Snake. After the photos I released the snake in an area not scheduled for renovation this season.
