Yes leave the scape on the plant if you want to grow the prolifs and actually plant them and have other plants. When the prolif gets large (often it will even form roots) cut the scape about a half inch or more below the prolif and plant it.

That was not very clear, cut the scape above and below the prolif then plant the prolif, not the scape.
