I can't agree more with "tissue culture" issue.
If you go to any local nurseries you probably will see the daylily
Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Fooled Me')
I've seen this daylily with a brown eye, red eye, orange and many different shades in the eye.
Just shows how tissue culturing can make the colors vary.
