I acquired this cultivar around 1998 and grew it until a couple of years ago when I sold it off as part of the ongoing downsizing of my garden. The trait I liked best about it was that it bloomed ML as registered. People never saw it during garden tours because it usually began blooming after tours were over, but it provided good color for the latter part of the season. The two traits I most disliked about it ( note: this is a personal observation and probably wouldn't bother most people) is that the scapes were a bit shorter than the registered height here ( usually 22-24 rather than the 26" registered) and the color sometimes appeared a bit muddy.

These are the only two images I've kept on file from its time in my garden. Both of these pictures were taken in 2009.

Many of the cultivars on the "daylily of the day" list have passed through my garden over the years. At one time, nearly 1100 grew here and now the numbers are just over 500. This fall, I intend to sell some 50 more and turn one more bed back to grass. It isn't that I'm less enamoured with the daylily. It is that as I age, it becomes physically much more difficult to maintain the level of heavy gardening that I once did. It used to take 7 hours daily during peak bloom to take all the blooms off each evening. Having maintained an AHS Display Garden since 2000, I feel obligated to keep the garden in decent condition during bloom season but smaller numbers and less daily work time during the really hot weather works better for me now. This year, with a somewhat smaller garden, the entire garden could be liveheaded ( during peak bloom) in four hours daily. It's still a lot of work! Yes, a few new daylilies still are added each year, but the difference is that now when one daylily is added, at least one must leave and I won't buy anything unless I really love it.
