I think it was stunted by keeping it in too small of a pot for many years. Dutchlady convinced me that it needed to be repotted and it has been happier since then. She wanted me to plant it in the ground but I don't think our heavy clay soil would be good for it in the winter. It is also happier since I started watering it twice a week instead of once a week.
