Hi,
I've wanted to grow one of these for years and recently found a large plant on clearance at Walmart (of all unlikely places.) You never see them here but I know that they are commonly sold and grown in Texas so I'm here to ask for some advice.
Zone-wise it would be borderline hardy here if given good drainage. Since I may be moving soon, I'm planning to grow it in a big, heavy cement pot. I was worried about the pot leaching too much lime into the soil for other plants that I have, but I'm thinking that the Leucophyllum would probably like that. Does anyone know the best soil/mix to use in a container for this plant? It appears to currently be growing in a typical peat/pine bark potting mix. I have a similar mix and was thinking of just using that and adding a little extra lime for the Leucophyllum. I know they need good drainage and an alkaline medium.
Any ideas or tips?
Thanks much!
