We are new to chicken raising and recently I ran into a blog entry that discourages ACV during high heat because it "affects laying hens by making the calcium in her feed a little less digestible". They say to use baking soda instead.

Do you think this would be the case for wild birds? They have overall a different diet, so this may not be a concern. I just want to make sure because this sounds like a great idea. We put out egg shells in the spring because we learned some birds will eat them to increase their calcium intake for egg laying.
