I cut them off if one gets too big for its' companions (which is how I ended up with so many pieces out in the landscape.) If you don't want to mess with that, they're easy to pull up before they get that big, w/o disturbing the other plants. Removing a few lower leaves can be a way to let the smaller plants get some light & just leave them there. Everybody looks happy there ;) Every time I've had extras, people wanted them, for both trades & postage.
