hello dave I saw your conversation trying to ID yours previously , I am believing some kind of Red Elm (Ulmus) Look at the bark on young growth , red , and peeling red paper like on green trunk stems , Like your Cedar Elms do in Texas, it's a clue
In the Butterfly garden if a plant is not chewed up I feel like a failure
