Not necessarily. Try to keep as much soil around the roots as possible when moving them. And keep them well watered afterwards. I've had a lot of aborted seeds this year, but I'm sure it's because we've had hotter weather than normal and I've found it harder to keep up on watering. My Daylilies have been too dry most of the time.
