Lillian's Vapor Trail is in it's second year here. It has done so well that I've designated it my 'benchmark' daylily - one the others should be aspiring to match in performance.

The first year it didn't reach the registered height and the scapes weren't always strong enough to support multiple blooms, but both height and scape strength were perfect this year. It had instant rebloom both years. I don't count buds because 1: I don't know when to do it and it's only successful buds that count to me and all my daylilies have some bud abortion and 2: I'm much more interested in the length of the bloom time. Last year, including the rebloom scapes, it began blooming on May 22 and the last bloom was was on June 29; this year it began on May 22 and lasted through June 26. I know it actually had more blooms this year and I might have had a longer bloom season but hail removed two scapes, including a rebloom scape. I grow my daylilies in containers and I'm not sure how that may affect the stats. Maybe next year I'll add a grower's report. Right now it's the pack leader among the daylilies.

A note: I think it will set viable pods. I had two growing this year, but I accidentally removed one scape when I was cleaning up old foliage and spent scapes; grasshoppers or something ate the other pod. Both pods used the same pollen parent, but, for me, LVT also starts opening the buds at dusk and they were open enough that I deposited the pollen then and didn't wait until the morning when it was fully open. The pod I broke off certainly was making seeds, but they were too immature to keep. Too bad, but all the dip pods this year were using LVT pollen. I didn't use anything else.
