A brief cold spell might have benefits as it might trick some plants into thinking winter is coming, and they need to get on with their job of throwing seeds etc?
Sweet potatoes are not supposed to be exposed to temperatures under 10ºC or 50 ºF , but maybe a brief exposure will trick them into bulking up the roots? I don't know , but will see.
It could have killed them too?
