There used to be a Mimosa tree in my yard. Someone prior to me had it removed. I think I've seen little starts popping up here and there. I potted one up to see what would happen. It's growing. I planted it in my lawn and it continues to grow. Looks like a Mimosa. Then I started thinking maybe it wasn't Mimosa and maybe it was what someone once told me was a weed. So today I went to Summer Winds with a piece of the "tree" to compare it to their Mimosas. They had three at $80 each and about 10 ft tall, no canopy yet. Two with dark leaves and one with lighter leaves. I took a leaf cluster from two of the trees one the light, one the dark. The lighter leaf looks like my weed. So... I had left the leaf from my "weed" in the car by accident. I take the two leaf clusters from their trees to the "tree guy" and tell him my tale. He looks at the lighter leaf and says "yes, this is a weed".. thinking it's my sample that I left in the car. I say, "no I took this from your tree out back".... kind of funny. I still hope that what I'm watering is a Mimosa. Pic here is of my neighbor's Mimosa that is about 2 yrs old.
