While I work today I brought a flowering shrub like plant, in a green pot with colored ornimental gravel on its soil surface. Should i remove the gravel or leave them be.

I cant post a picture of it as I have no phone or camra that works right now.

Its short.... has classic green coffee like leaves, i have coffee.... flowers that grow from a stem as tight clusters but fall off from the bottom and edventually leave a seed head. The flowers on mine are orange, but they come in other colors and have no scent that i can detect.. I read about this mystery plant because i got the name at one point and typed it in. and researched its one of the few flowers that preforms well even in low light, likes water and blooms are very catchy.
